Use a consistent style for ranges so that they're clear and accessible.

Ranges of numbers and measurements

Write ranges as words, using the phrases "" or "between...and..."


Don't use dashes or hyphens to indicate ranges. Dashes and hyphens are often ignored by screen readers, so ranges written in this way aren't accessible.

Write numbers in ranges as numerals, including numbers less than 10.

If the range involves units, then repeat the unit for each number unless the unit is a unit of time.

If the range doesn't include the values of the endpoints, then use the words "greater than," "less than," and "or equal to" to make the acceptable values clear.

Ranges of dates and clock times

Write dates and clock times in ranges in full. Separate the start and end of the range with the word "to." Introduce the range with the word "from" as needed.

In ranges of time, always include the AM or PM indicator for both the start and end times. If you are specifying a time zone, write it once at the end of the time range.
