Alt text for different platforms
This page is a high-level reference intended to help you implement alt text on different platforms or tools. Use the links provided to find instructions for adding alt text in each tool.

Alt text on internal platforms
Alt text functionality is available in the following tools used for internal communication:
- Slack
- Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
- Confluence
- Learn platform
- Simpplr (in-line images only, not hero images for articles)

When alt text functionality isn't available, use the image caption feature to describe visual content.
Alt text on external platforms
Documentation platforms
The following user-facing documentation platforms support alt text functionality:

The core user manual platform automatically creates an image caption from the text in the alt attribute. Follow the best practices for writing alt text, and make sure to include all necessary information for the image caption, including attribution if required.
